ENCORD CO2e and Waste Measurement Protocols

The European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development (ENCORD) identified a need for a common approach to CO2 and waste measurement in the European construction industry to allow benchmarking, and subsequent comparison, of different projects.

As chair of the ENCORD Sustainability Working Group, Charlie brought together experts from all over Europe to develop the protocols, and along with members from BAM and Skanska, authored the final documents.

The CO2e Protocol was one of the first to be awarded the ‘Built on GHG’ standard by the WRI (authors of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol), and both the waste and CO2e Protocols are now recognised as the standards for measurement in Europe.
